As expected, fans were out in drones during the first day of shooting for the sequel of Sex and the City. While they filmed on the Upper East Side a single scene of Sarah Jessica Parker hailing a cab, the fans couldn’t get enough, lagging around for hours. When shooting was over, the potential of hounding wasn’t over but with SJP’s security in tow there’s no getting close to her. Ostensibly, she told them to be “nice” to the oglers.
Having seen the series shot many times in and around the city, I remember fans hanging around then too but it was much more subdued so much so that you could even hear shady whispers from production as they complained that SJP “takes way too long to get ready.” Oh, the good days!
What’s weird? What’s the hubbub all about really? SJP can be seen walking the streets of NYC (without security I might add) on many given days. I have had several run-ins with her. One of which where she stood literally two feet away from me, in front of my building, juggling a Blackberry, another phone, and a Daffy’s bag. Only SJP could look F-I-E-R-C-E with a Daffy’s bag!
File under: And, yep, everyone is also trying to find out the details of the script as speculations are abound why Carrie does not wear her wedding ring in some scenes shot.

Entertainment Tonight’s website reports Sarah Jessica Parker was spotted in Manhattan, ostensibly shooting the sequel to Sex and the City.
With an expected release of May 2010, I know there is going to be another storm of fans camping out to get glimpses of their getting-up-there idols; rabid media outlets trying to get scene details; spoiler-alerts abound; and two and three versions taped to avert the peering/prying eyes.
While the ever-elusive other character in the series is New York, it does seem to offer all types of unforeseen issues. It’s all still great publicity for a franchise that seems to have no impending end though.
File under: I am so full of excitement. I just can’t wait to see this on… DVD.

I have never been one for remakes. For me, it’s much like re-fried beans: yeah, it seems like a good idea then you get that queasy feeling in the pit of your stomach. I mean if something wasn’t broke why try to fix it.
The demise of the original Aaron Spelling hit Melrose Place tells you that no matter how outrageous, shirtless, and preposterous you get, a series is not endless. There comes a time when execs should stop thinking about the bottom line and bow out gracefully. Seinfeld did it best! So to remake a series like this seems sacrilige if you ask me. I will tune in though… Especially with the new word on the street!
Advocate.com has confirmed that the resident gay on the series set to hit the WB soon will be Victor Webster. The hottie, who has appeared in Playgirl, is more known by me from his appearance on Sex and the City as that inside-trading gigilo and one of Samantha’s conquests. Remember when he dropped that towel? Phew! That alone will have me at least watching. Advocate says he will appear on the second episode.

So I was definitely one of those few who had to see the “Sex and the City” movie a few times before I could appreciate it for what it was: a sub par-yet-somewhat-entertaining version of a really awesome small-screen masterpiece.
I am not sure what took me so long to come around. It could have been the utter over-hype; the plot leaks; maybe the swerving and endless theater lines full of New York’s faux glitterati; the bigger-than-life and ultimate dilution (to a degree) of a show that could have been just left alone; or maybe it was just the incessant rabid fans who in their bargain-basement garb, swore they were some incarnation of Carrie. Whatever it was, I did eventually watch the movie a number of times at home (with a cosmo and my Vogue) and for what is was worth found the storyline a feasible transition for the main characters.
Well, for those who can’t get enough of these getting-up-there hipsters, there definitely seems to be a sequel on the horizon. The secret script seems to have gotten some sort of green light. As early as yesterday there was an open cast call for extras for the movie. I am sure the gays were out in drones!
There is no doubt I am very interested in what direction they will take this movie. Carrie pregnant? Miranda divorced and a lesbian? I don’t know the possibilities seem endless and I am not sure if I truly care that much. We’ll see.
I am not one for brutal punishment a second time around so I think I may have to wait for this one to come on DVD or at least wait for a month after its release to see it in the theaters.
